Our Rangers fans here in the Transfer Tavern are hugely underwhelmed with the latest rumour surrounding their club’s vacant managerial post.
The club have been through the mill recently with results taking a turn for the worse and off the pitch matters becoming pretty messy.
The situation involving Mark Warburton recently has certainly taken its toll on the club, too, and so now what the Gers need is a bold move to help get them going back in the right direction.
Many Rangers fans want to see a big name manager to help them take the fight to Celtic but it appears – according to The Express – that they’re possibly going to take a somewhat surprising route.
According to the outlet the Glasgow club are looking at Alan Irvine as their next manager in what could prove either an inspired or shocking decision.
Certainly, the latter seems very possible given Irvine’s recent track record as an assistant at Norwich and as a manager at West Brom.
The Canaries have been pretty underwhelming in the Championship this season whilst he just couldn’t get things to work at The Hawthorns before being dismissed very early on.
Rangers fans on Twitter are far from impressed, then, and here’s what they’ve had to say:

If Alan Irvine got an interview for the Rangers head coach job, I am going to hand my CV in tomorrow. He's a joke.

Alan Irvine, new #RangersFC managerial contender. Either lazy journalism, or some or ongoing hideous decision making at that club.
