Nottingham Forest have enjoyed a pretty strong start to proceedings as they continue to push towards promotion to the Premier League.
Forest are a changed team this season as they invested heavily over the course of the summer transfer window. Although, it looks as if Aitor Karanka could wave goodbye to one of his players, as according to The Express, Rangers are ahead of Celtic in the race to sign Nottingham Forest defender Joe Worrall.
Both Glasgow clubs are interested in landing Worrall before the Scottish transfer window closes on August 31.
Rangers are said to have edged ahead in the race to land the defender, but Celtic have the financial clout to match any offer.
Yet it may be a loan deal that comes to fruition before next Friday’s deadline, as it’s believed that Worrall may become available.
The defender hasn’t managed to work his way into Aitor Karanka’s plans so far this season due to injury and poor performances, so a move away will do him some good.
Nottingham Forest will be focused on ensuring consistency and a play-off spot come the end of the season, so losing the Englishman will be the least of Karanka’s worries.
The central defender has established himself as one of the most promising players in the Championship over the past couple of campaigns.
Aitor Karanka seems to have his central defensive partnership settled but he may want to dip into the market to find a replacement for Joe Worrall if he departs.
