Joe Worrall to undergo imminent Rangers medical

Rangers could still make a couple more signings before Friday’s deadline this summer, as one looks likely to happen imminently.

According to a report by The Daily Mail, it appears that Joe Worrall is heading to Ibrox to undergo a medical ahead of a season-long loan move from Nottingham Forest.

The England Under-21 international is thought to be available after Aitor Karanka made a number of his own signings this summer and Gerrard is keen to take the enforcer to rebuild his defence.

The £7.2million-rated defender, as per Transfermarkt, is thought to be allowed to join up with the Light Blues after the Liverpool legend made a promise stating that the 21-year-old would get a significant amount of playing time.

Gerrard has been keen to find a player to add to his new look defence, with Nikola Katic and Connor Goldson forming the central pairing so far, whilst Borna Barisic and Jon Flanagan have occupied the full-back positions at times.

The Verdict:

It appears that Rangers will be able to announce the deal of Worrall fairly soon, providing there are no problems with the defender’s medical.

The 21-year-old is extremely talented and it could be considered a coup for the Scottish side to land a player of his ability on a season-long loan.

And, should he be confirmed in the next day or so, he could be welcomed to Scottish football with an Old Firm Derby against Celtic at the weekend.
