The Rangers fans in the Transfer Tavern have been entertaining the idea of Steven Gerrard bringing experienced Championship man, Jordan Rhodes to Ibrox. The Sheffield Wednesday man has only managed five goals for the club in his debut season for the club, although you don’t have to look back too far to see his goalscoring exploits, having scored 16 goals back in the 2015/16 season for both Blackburn and Middlesbrough.
Rhodes is yet to ply his trade in Scotland at club level, despite turning out for a handful of EFL clubs in his career. However, he could be set to make his first move in Scottish club football, as Steven Gerrard could make Rhodes his third signing as Rangers manager after Scott Arfield and Allan McGregor both agreed to join the Glasgow side earlier this month.
If Rhodes was to make the move north from Sheffield to Glasgow, he would be under a lot of pressure to perform. The 28-year-old has scored three goals in 14 games for Scotland in his international career and his chances of a first international call-up since March 2017, where he managed just 29 minutes in a 1-1 home draw with Canada before being left as an unused substitute when Gordon Strachan’s side won 1-0 away in Slovenia.
You can read our resident Gers’ verdict on the Rhodes’ rumours here:
The more I read about us being linked with Jordan Rhodes, the more I think he could be the perfect fit for us. Kinda like a less lazy Kris Boyd type figure. Goals galore.

Fernando Torres to Jordan Rhodes. No difference there then.

Jordan Rhodes would make a good loan signing. He will be on £40k per so unlikely that Rangers* could afford all his wages
Dont how much truth is in the Jordan Rhodes rumour. Would like that a lot though

Never seen the player in Jordan Rhodes.
Always filed him under, ‘guys who must be doing alright down south to get picked for Scotland, but are distinctively average when playing for the national team’
Russell Martin was in the same file.

Some of the rumours recently just seem a bit far fetched. The latest is Jordan Rhodes who reportedly earns between £30k-£40k a week in the English Championship. How on earth could we afford those wages for a start never mind the fee involved in signing him.
