Landing this £8.1m-rated star would surely give Celtic fans Larsson flashbacks

Celtic fans here in the Tavern will have their eyes set on another treble next season, as Brendan Rodgers continues to work his magic in Scotland.

The Hoops were dominant once again this season as they managed to secure the Scottish Premiership title, the Scottish Cup and the Scottish League Cup. However, manager Brendan Rodgers will be looking for even more success next season, but improvements will be needed in Europe.

Celtic struggled to enjoy success in Europe this season as they finished third in their Champions League group, and then went on to lose to Zenit Saint Petersburg in the Europa League round of 32.

So, the Hoops will need to bring in another striker this summer as Moussa Dembele became isolated at times this season, with many of our local residents having flashbacks of Henrik Larsson’s time at the club.

Indeed, the Swede managed to score 242 goals for Celtic and established himself as arguably the best striker to have ever played for the club. And, it’s fair to say that the Hoops just haven’t found a striker on the same level since his departure, as he helped them secure four Scottish Premiership titles and two Scottish League cups, while being crowned the Scottish Premiership top scorer five times and the UEFA-Cup top scorer back in 02/03.

With that being said, landing this striker would surely give Celtic fans Larsson flashbacks…

Sardar Azmoun

Sardar Azmoun, who is valued at £8.1 million (by Transfermarkt), boasts an impressive record at international level, and he also managed to score five goals and assisted six in 28 appearances for Russian side Rubin Kazan this season.

The 23-year-old will be jetting off to the World Cup with Iran, so the Hoops will be sure to keep an eye on him as the tournament progresses. And, with 23 goals to his name in 32 international appearances, perhaps the forward might be able to challenge for the Golden Boot.

Indeed, the striker is very similar to Larsson as he uses his pace and skill to work himself into promising positions, with a killer instinct in front of goal. So, Celtic may uncover a future club legend if they manage to land Azmoun this summer, as he has already shown that he can score goals both domestically and in the Champions League.
