Celtic fans here in the Tavern are confident that their side will secure the treble, having ran away with the Scottish Premiership title already this season.
Indeed, Brendan Rodgers has established himself as one of the most impressive managers in world football since taking over at Celtic Park, and success doesn’t look like slowing up any time soon, as the Hoops can secure the treble if they manage to beat Motherwell in the Scottish Cup.
Although, having struggled to challenge any of the big guns in the Champions League this season, many of our local residents want to see a number of players brought in over the course of the summer transfer window.
Rodgers just hasn’t been praised enough for his efforts over the past couple of seasons as Celtic have gone up a gear since he took over, so the club’s chief executive Peter Lawwell may look to reward him with a marquee signing this summer after yet another impressive campaign.
With that being said, here’s who our local punters think Lawwell should reward Rodgers with…
Brendan Rodgers described Joe Allen as the Welsh Xavi after signing him for Liverpool back in 2012. The Celtic boss worked with the 28-year-old at Swansea and has always been an admirer, so he may look to link up with the central midfielder once again in the summer.
Encouragingly, the Welshman’s current club Stoke City suffered relegation to the Championship this season, so a summer transfer window exit looks inevitable as a number of clubs are already taking an interest.
But, if Celtic can manage to lure him to Celtic Park in the summer transfer window, then they’ll be welcoming a player who can provide a wealth of experience and bags of quality.
