The Leeds United fans who are gathered at the bar in The Transfer Tavern this evening discussing comments made by their manager with regards to him being linked with another job.
The Yorkshire Post is reporting that Steve Evans in flattered to be linked with Scottish Premier League side Celtic but is fully focused on his future with the Elland Road side.
Evans is a shock contender according to the latest odds on who is going to replace Ronny Deila who is leaving Parkhead this summer.
The Celtic supporting manager admits it is an honour to be linked with the Glasgow giants but he would rather stay in West Yorkshire with Leeds despite doubts over his future at Elland Road.
“It’s flattering for any coach to be linked to any job, but you can’t let it take away focus from the job in hand. Celtic are an iconic football club but Leeds United are an iconic football club. My only focus is on representing this famous badge.”
“The only job at that appeals to me at the moment is being head coach of Leeds United. I want to be the Leeds United head coach going forward. I’ve never hidden that but the final decision lies with someone else.”
“I will always be a Celtic supporter. I’ve supported them since I was two – and that’s not two years old, that’s two seconds old. You’re born a Celtic supporter, the same as Leeds supporters.”
“That’s why there’s so many of them and that’s why they’re both great clubs. But I’m the head coach of this great club and that’s the only focus I’ve got.”
The Leeds fans in The Tavern don’t think Evans will be approached by Celtic in the slightest and they can see him being replaced at Elland Road this summer.
