Carlos Pena’s future at Rangers is thought to be non-existent, although it appears his future in football could be in doubt as well.
The Mexico international arrived at Ibrox in the summer of 2017 when Pedro Caixinha splashed £2.7million on him, per Transfermarkt.
However, he struggled to make a real impact during his time in Scotland and was shortly loaned out to clubs in his homeland.
Pena has made just 14 appearances during his short-lived spell with the Light Blues, scoring five times.
He is thought to have been linked with a move to Turkey, but Mark Allen appears to have put cooled those suggestions.
Speaking to The Express, the Rangers director of football said: “It is ongoing with Carlos at the moment. There is nothing concrete.”
Pena’s future at Rangers is quite clearly over and the Scottish Premiership giants should do all they can to try and offload him.
The Mexican is thought to be one of the club’s big-earners and getting him off their wage bill would help to potentially free up more finances for Steven Gerrard.
However, without anything concrete, the Ibrox outfit could have a tough time trying to rid the Caixhina flop.
