Rangers have recently been linked with a move for Matt Polster as his contract with the Chicago Fire is set to come to an end.
Should Polster, who has also been capped by the senior United States of America side, impress during his opportunity, he could be delighted about the move to Ibrox more than others.
The 25-year-old posted a photo on his Instagram account when he met Steven Gerrard, who was playing for Los Angeles Galaxy at the time, and revealed that he had managed to meet his ‘childhood idol’.
The Liverpool legend also took the time to ‘like’ the photo, before wishing Polster the best for the season.
With Polster an obvious fan of Gerrard and having watched him as his ‘idol’ it is likely that the 25-year-old will have even more motivation to earn a deal at Rangers.
The Light Blues continue to look for new players as they reshape their squad and the versatile American could be an experienced professional for them to turn too in January, especially considering he would be available for free.
Although Gerrard and Polster have already met and exchanged pleasantries, it is not a given that the international midfielder will earn himself a deal at Ibrox.
