Murty set to continue Rangers overhaul with midfielder deal seemingly imminent

Rangers supporters have been quietly optimistic in the Transfer Tavern in recent times after seeing their side add four new faces to the squad ahead of the second half of the Scottish Premiership season, a half they hope will be better than the first.

Graeme Murty’s men ended 2017 third in the division but a hefty 11 points adrift of leaders Celtic, while they also failed in their quest to add a 28th Scottish League Cup to their trophy cabinet after losing 4-2 to Motherwell in the semi-finals. However, the additions of Sean Goss and Jamie Murphy in the first week of January, alongside Jason Cummings and Russell Martin more recently, has increased the positivity among our resident Gers fans, with many hoping that their side can produce the goods more regularly in the second half of the campaign.

And those hardy Rangers supporters may have greater cause for optimism in the coming days if a recent report from The Scottish Sun is anything to go by, which suggests that the Murty overhaul is set to continue with the seemingly imminent signing of Emerson Hyndman, who of course spent a chunk of last season at Ibrox.

The 21-year-old currently plays his trade at Premier League outfit Bournemouth and has done so since 2016, although has managed just six senior appearances for Eddie Howe’s men, half of which have come this season in FA Cup and Carabao Cup matches.

Yet it looks like the midfielder, who bagged four goals and laid on four assists on loan at Rangers last term, will get the chance to prove his worth again to the Scottish giants as reports suggest that he is closing in on a return to Ibrox, again on a temporary deal.

And given his efforts last season, this is an imminent deal likely to go down well with our resident Gers fans.

Landlord’s verdict: Emerson Hyndman scored four goals and laid on four assists in just 17 appearances on loan for Rangers last season, and looks set to get the chance to impress the Ibrox faithful once again.

And that’s because reports suggest that the 21-year-old is set to make the move back to Rangers on loan for the rest of the campaign, in news which, alongside the four arrivals already this month, is likely to fill our resident Gers fans with even greater confidence ahead of the second half of the season.
