Steven Gerrard has received an untimely injury blow after members of his Rangers squad joined up with their national sides.
A number of managers are hopeful their players return to their sides without any problems when they take part in the international break.
However, it appears Gerrard has not had that luxury, with the Croatian national team confirming that Nikola Katic has suffered a knock.
Posting on their official Twitter account, the Football Federation revealed that the defender had been forced to pull out of the Under-21 side, although they did not specify what the injury was.
Nikola Katić propušta okupljanje Hrvatske U-21 zbog ozljede. Želimo mu brz oporavak!
Naknadni pozivi upućeni su Petru Bosančiću i Darku Nejašmiću.#BudiPonosan

The tweet, once translated, read: “Nikola Katic misses the gathering of Croatia Under-21 for injury. We want a quick recovery.”
This news comes as Borna Barisic could be set to pull out of the national team through injury, giving Gerrard and Rangers a double blow.
Rangers will be cursing their luck following Katic’s latest injury setback and will hope it is not too serious.
The defender, who has not featured for the Light Blues since their quarter-final win against Ayr United towards the end of September, has been in fine form for the team since arriving in the summer.
He made a great start to his career at Ibrox, however, it appears that Gerrard has started to prefer to use the duo of Joe Worrall and Connor Goldson in recent weeks.
