‘No chance’ – Rangers fans on Twitter laugh off ridiculous transfer rumour

The Rangers fans in the Transfer Tavern have been reacting to a report from The Scottish Sun that claims Neil Lennon is interested in bringing Andy Halliday from Ibrox to Easter Road this summer. The midfielder was scored in the infamous 2016 Scottish Cup final where Hibs overcame the Bluenoses 3-2 at Hampden Park and two years on it seems ludicrous that he could be on his way to one of Rangers fiercest rivals.

Steven Gerrard has outlined that he sees no future for Andy Halliday at Ibrox next season and has put the midfielder up for sale. At the age of 26, Halliday has a lot to offer whoever decides to sign him this season, although the Gers would hate to see him sold to Hibernian. Under Gerrard, it’s clear to see that Rangers are looking to improve and he Liverpool legend will know that he needs to clear the deadwood, with Halliday identified as one to ship out.

The fans won’t want to see any business done with Hibs though, whatever their opinions of Halliday. The Scottish Cup final of 2016 left a bitter taste in the mouths of Rangers fans. Halliday put Rangers 2-1 up with 25 minutes to play, although Anthony Stokes’ equaliser and David Gray’s winner led to a mass pitch invasion where a number of the Rangers squad and staff were supposedly assaulted by Hibs fans.
