Rangers fans here in the Tavern are desperate for Steven Gerrard to bring in a number of players this summer, as they’ll need to strengthen massively in order to stand any chance of knocking over bitter rivals Celtic next season.
The Bluenoses will need to welcome even more players to the club this summer as they prepare for the challenges of next season, with aims of enjoying success both in Europe and domestically. However, many of our local residents received negative news on the transfer front recently, as according to the Daily Record, Rangers made an enquiry to Russian outfit Slaven Belupo over Nikola Katic three weeks ago, but the defender is now set to join Spartak Moscow.
Sadly, it’s understood that Rangers target Nikola Katic is set to join Russia side Spartak Moscow as he prepares to head to Russia for talks.
Indeed, the Bluenoses reportedly made an enquiry to Katic’s current club Slaven Belupo three weeks ago, but there has been no concrete offer from Rangers and he is due for talks on Tuesday.
Steven Gerrard has prioritised central defence in his rebuild and Katic was identified as a target last month, but he may now have to turn his attention elsewhere.
So, it looks as if Rangers have suffered a setback on the transfer front, with their reported target set for talks with Spartak Moscow on Tuesday. Indeed, the Bluenoses are in desperate need of a new central defender with Bruno Alves getting on with age, so they’ll be gutted to have lost out on a player that would have been a key signing.
