Over twice as many Rangers fans wanted long-term solution over Defoe

After Rangers announced the signing of England veteran Jermain Defoe recently, we discussed what that meant for the Scottish giants

The Gers have been in need of a natural goalscorer this season, and have only scored six goals in their last eight games. Defoe is a natural finisher, and should do Alfredo Morelos the world of good being alongside him.

However, at the age of 36, Defoe is only a short-term option for Rangers, where they may only benefit this season.

With that in mind, we asked you whether you would prefer a long-term option as a striker and these were the results:

Despite his pedigree in the Premier League, more than twice the number of fans would like to see a long-term arrival at Ibrox over Defoe. Perhaps the fans are aware that in order for Rangers to break bitter rivals Celtic’s dominance of Scottish football they will need to secure a player for years to com, and Defoe is not that man.
