‘Player of the Year’, ‘Love the guy’ – Rangers fans on Twitter really are in love with 30-year-old

The Rangers fans in the Transfer Tavern were pleased to see their club bounce back from last week’s 4-0 drumming at the hands of Celtic at Hampden Park. Goals from Daniel Candeias and Jason Cummings saw the Gers edge past Hearts 2-1 at Ibrox, with the fans particularly pleased with their Portuguese winger, Candeias.

The fans will be looking to write this season off as soon as possible. The club would’ve hoped for a successful year although they started woefully and were knocked out of Europe at the first qualifying stage by Luxembourg’s Progres Niederkorn back in summer. After looking to get their season back-on-track, the club looked like they could halt Brendan Rodgers’ Celtic in the Scottish Cup last week. It wasn’t to be though, as Rangers now find themselves playing for pride, and a second-place finish, in their last four games of the season.

The club has been savouring positives wherever they come from this year, and the signing of Daniel Candeias is definitely a positive. The 30-year-old has been a nomad throughout his career, playing for almost a dozen clubs in Portugal both permanently and on-loan, although he seems to have found a home in Glasgow. The winger has bagged himself five goals and eight assists in 32 Scottish Premier League fixtures this season and the fans will be hoping he can continue that form next week in the last Old Firm of the season.
