Rangers supporters have been making a lot of noise in the Transfer Tavern in the last few hours after seeing their team get back to winning ways courtesy of a 2-0 success at Partick Thistle on Tuesday night.

Graeme Murty’s men went into their clash with Alan Archibald’s side off the back of their first loss of the New Year at the hands of Hibernian on Saturday, a result which saw them slip six points behind second place Aberdeen in the Scottish Premiership. Yet the Gers produced a much-improved display on Tuesday night as goals either side of half time from Josh Windass and James Tavernier secured a routine victory for Murty’s team, thus putting the pressure on Derek McInnes’ Dons with 12 games of the campaign remaining.

Consequently, there have been many delighted Rangers supporters in the Tavern in recent times, and they are likely to be further intrigued and perhaps encouraged by a recent report from The Daily Express, which suggests that in-demand ace Alfredo Morelos could well remain at Ibrox despite reported interest from Beijing Renhe.

The 21-year-old only made the move to the Scottish giants back in the summer but has hit the ground running with 13 goals in 29 appearances for Murty’s side, thus underlining his importance to this Gers squad.

And, unsurprisingly, the Colombian star attracted interest during the January window with Chinese Super League side Beijing Renhe reportedly launching an £8 million offer for the forward, which was subsequently rejected by Rangers.

However, with the Chinese transfer window open until the end of February, there has been concern among our resident Gers fans that Morelos could still leave the club in the near future, yet recent reports suggest that Beijing Hende are ‘unlikely’ to maintain their interest in the 21-year-old.

And this potentially significant update is sure to come as a big boost to Murty and the club’s supporters, who have seen first-hand how integral Morelos is and will be to their success in the coming months.

Landlord’s verdict: Not many of Pedro Caixinha’s signings have hit the ground running at Rangers, yet Alfredo Morelos is certainly one that has.

The 21-year-old has scored 13 goals in just 29 games for the club this term and unsurprisingly attracted interest during the January transfer window, with Beijing Renhe reportedly making an £8 million bid which was subsequently rejected.

But with the Chinese window open until the end of February, further bids could well be made for the forward, yet recent reports suggest that the top-flight club are ‘unlikely’ to retain their interest in Morelos, instead turning their attentions to other targets.

And while a move cannot be completely ruled out, this significant update is likely to delight Murty and the Rangers supporters, as Morelos is set to play a key part in what success they have in the coming months and years.
