Celtic supporters have been in fine voice in the Transfer Tavern in the last few hours after seeing their side retain the Scottish League Cup with a 2-0 victory over Motherwell at Hampden Park on Sunday, in turn clinching their fourth trophy under manager Brendan Rodgers.
The former Liverpool boss took over at Parkhead back in the summer of 2016 and led the Bhoys to the clean sweep of domestic silverware last term, in which time they remained unbeaten to further underline their dominance of football north of the border. And they have started this term in similar fashion and already have a trophy under their belts as second half goals from James Forrest and Moussa Dembele were enough to seal victory over Stephen Robinson’s side, who of course reached the showpiece by beating Rangers in the semi-finals.
Consequently, there have been many delighted Bhoys fans in the Tavern in recent times, many of whom are revelling in their team’s incredible achievement of four successive domestic trophies, a feat which sees Rodgers draw level with club legend Jock Stein, who achieved the same back in 1969.
And one man in particular has received much praise from Celtic supporters in the aftermath of Sunday’s clash, namely goalkeeper Craig Gordon.
The Scotland international didn’t enjoy a great evening against French giants Paris Saint-Germain in midweek and was duly criticised for his efforts, yet the 34-year-old made a crucial reaction save to deny Lewis Moult at Hampden Park with the score at 1-0.
And many Bhoys fans have taken to Twitter to lump praise on the shot-stopper…
Fantastic save from Gordon today, he does that so well. Distribution remains patchy at times but hey overall he’s been a good keeper for Celtic pic.twitter.com/V8AOpBMM5T

Craig Gordon makes a fantastic save at a crucial stage of the game and he hardly gets a mention – genuinely think some folk have it in for that boy.#Celtic

We’ve put a lot of Hampden demons to bed last 15 months but I still go there with nervousness rather than confidence. That Gordon save was absolutely crucial. Stunner.
