Rangers fans in the Transfer Tavern will be drowning their sorrows after another heavy defeat to Old Firm rivals Celtic in the Scottish Cup semi-final.

The Gers were beaten convincingly by Brendan Rodgers’ side 4-0, which included a red card for Graeme Murty’s team, and the punters do not believe things can get much better for them this season.

The Ibrox outfit has not been able to beat Celtic in ten meetings, and a number of the locals know that the squad will need to be improved before they can finally get one over the Bhoys, however, a former Hoop believes it could cost them a lot of money.

In his article for The Daily Mail, Kris Commons believes Rangers will need to invest £100million of talent to have a chance of competing against their Old Firm foes. The former midfielder believes his former club are so far in front of their city rivals, that it is ‘incredible’.

He also believes the Gers chairman, Dave King, has not helped his side’s chances of finding a top manager to help them become more competitive after he made the comment that the next manager must win the Scottish Premiership.

Landlord’s Verdict

Rangers fans in the Tavern will know that they need to invest in their squad if they are to compete with Celtic, however, a number of the punters are concerned how long it would take before those additions are made.
