Rangers’ 55 dream would be in sight if they landed £7.2m-rated attacker

Rangers fans in the Transfer Tavern are optimistic for the future under Steven Gerrard – our punters believe the former Liverpool captain can lead them to glory.

Graeme Murty was dismissed following a 5-0 defeat to Celtic which handed the Hoops their seventh consecutive Scottish Premiership title. The ex-England international was then announced as his successor after weeks of speculation. Our punters are hopeful he can have a positive effect on the club in his first senior management role.

Gerrard’s transfer business has already begun with Rangers adding Scott Arfield, Jamie Murphy and Allan McGregor to his playing squad. He will be concerned regarding the transfer speculation surrounding top scorer Alfredo Morelos who has been heavily linked with a move to Besiktas. Should he depart, he will need replacing.

The perfect man for the job could be Swansea City striker – Jordan Ayew. The Swans were relegated to the Championship and Ayew is almost certain to leave for a club in a better division. The former Marseille man has seven Premier League goals this season and is valued at £7.2m by Transfermarkt.

The 26-year-old has been one of the few shining lights at the Liberty Stadium. Seven goals is a respectable haul, but the Ghanaian has shown he is capable of creating chances for his team-mates. If he can improve his goal tally, he would be an excellent signing for the Gers.

With our local Light Blues dreaming of a 55th league title, Ayew would help them do that.
