Rangers closing in on Kyle Lafferty deal

Rangers are thought to be on the verge of completing another summer transfer deal as Steven Gerrard continues to add to his squad.

According to a report in the Edinburgh Evening News, the Light Blues are close to securing a deal to bring Kyle Lafferty back to Ibrox from Heart of Midlothian.

It is understood that discussions are ongoing about a possible transfer for the 30-year-old, whilst it is also thought that Lee Wallace could return to Tynecastle Park.

Rangers had an opening offer for the Northern Ireland international knocked back last month, which was thought to be worth around £200,000.

However, that setback does not appear to have turned Gerrard away from completing a deal for Lafferty, whilst Hearts manager Craig Leven revealed a ‘deal is not dead’.

The Verdict:

Rangers are certainly in need of another attacking option at Ibrox as they look to make waves this season.

The Gers currently only have Alfredo Morelos and Umar Sadiq, however, the Colombian is attracting interest from abroad.

Lafferty would be an excellent signing for the club as he became a fan favourite during his time with the Light Blues, which would have only been further enhanced when he netted the winner against Old Firm rivals Celtic last weekend for Hearts.
