Ryan Kent may not be included in the Rangers starting line-up for the next month, according to a report from Football Insider.
The winger is coming back from injury and it is thought that the club have planned in detail how they will handle his return to first-team action.
Since joining on a permanent deal from Liverpool in the summer, Kent has endured a frustrating start to the campaign.
So far, the winger has managed to play just 41 minutes of first-team football, which came against Livingston back in September.
A hamstring injury has kept him out of action, but Steven Gerrard confirmed after their 5-0 win against Hamilton that they expect the player to be available after the international break.
However, Football Insider are reporting that the club will look to ease Kent back into action with a few substitute appearances before handing him a start.
Having broken down so quickly against Livingston, Gerrard and his staff are keen to ensure that does not happen again and want him to be 100% ready before playing 90 minutes.
Kent is an important player for Rangers, as shown in his performances on loan at the club last season.
The 22-year-old managed to provide six goals and six assists for the Ibrox club in 2018/19, and he will add even more creativity going forward.
However, the Gers have made an excellent start to the current campaign and have won seven of their opening eight matches in the league.
In that time they have had no issues in front of goal, and are the leading scorers in the division having already netted 26 times (via BBC Sport).
With that in mind, there is little point rushing Kent back. Yes, he is an excellent player, but the club are coping well without him so the priority has to be making sure he is fully fit and ready for action by the time they name him in the starting line-up.
Rangers fans, how important will Ryan Kent be once he returns from injury? And are the club doing the right thing in not rushing him back into the first team? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below…
