The Rangers fans here in the Football Transfer tavern are patiently waiting to see if this deal will come off before 11:30pm tonight…
Whilst this deal looked close to completion yesterday, things have slowed down in the last 24 hours.
However, according to the Express, a deal for the experienced defender remains in limbo. They report that Senderos is waiting to see if any other clubs come in for him, and is also considering offers from both Alcorcon and 1860 Munich.
This will come as disappointing news for the Rangers faithful here in the Tavern, who had expected the deal to be confirmed at some point today.
Senderos is currently a free agent, but many of the punters here in the Football Transfer Tavern remember the Swiss defender from his time at Arsenal – where he spent 7 years between 2003 and 2010.
Never a full-time regular for the club, Senderos made 64 league appearances during his spell with the Gunners, during which he became a household name in England.
Whilst he is not getting any younger, our landlord thinks that Senderos represents a real quality option for Rangers boss Mark Warburton.
The fact that he isn’t currently tied down to a club is crucial, as that will allow Rangers to bring him in on a free – fantastic business for a player that has over a decade of experience at the highest level.
The good news is that Senderos has reportedly been training with Rangers for the last two weeks; so the club brass must be hopeful that a deal will go through in time.
Our landlord has said that whilst he expects the deal to go through today at some point; anything can happen on Transfer Deadline Day.
Rangers fans – thoughts? Would you like to see Senderos in Scotland? Will the deal happen today?
