Rangers desperate to offload Carlos Pena in January

Rangers desperate to offload Carlos Pena in January

Steven Gerrard is expected to be active in the transfer window once again this winter as he continues to reshape his Rangers squad.

The Light Blues are expected to make a couple of additions to help improve certain areas of the team, whilst it is also believed they will try and offload some of the players that have no future at Ibrox.

And, according to the Scottish Sun, Carlos Pena is one of those that falls into that category.

The £2.2million 2017 summer signing, who arrived under Pedro Caixinha, has really struggled to make an impact during his time in Scotland and has been sent out on loan, where he has continued to find it difficult to get form.

Rangers are keen to offload him from their wage bill as he still has 18 months left to run on his £20,000-a-week contract.

The Verdict:

A lot was expected of Pena when he originally joined Rangers in the summer of 2017, however, the Mexico international turned into a flop.

He is thought to be one of the highest earners at the club and they are desperate to offload him as they look to save money and be able to use it on other potential arrivals.

However, it could be difficult to get rid of the 28-year-old, as personal issues and his performances on the pitch in recent times will not have helped put himself in the shop window.
