Rangers eyeing move for Steven Caulker

Rangers are looking to remain active in the transfer window this summer as Steven Gerrard continues to search for new additions.

The Light Blues have already added 11 new faces to their side, however, it appears that the new manager is not quite content with what he currently has.

According to a report in The Daily Mirror’s live transfer blog, Rangers are considering a deadline day bid for Dundee’s Steven Caulker.

It has been suggested that an offer of around £1.5million will be made for the former Queens Park Rangers defender, although the Ibrox outfit will face competition from Leeds United for the player.

The 26-year-old impressed for Dundee during the latter half of the season and it is believed the Scottish outfit could be prepared to cash in on the former Premier League enforcer with interest mounting.

The Verdict:

Caulker could turn out to be an excellent signing for Rangers this summer as he has plenty of experience, having played in the Premier League and Championship.

The Light Blues have already added Connor Goldson and Nikola Katic to the central position of their backline, however, the former Tottenham Hotspur enforcer would add valuable knowledge.

Gerrard had been in the market for another defender and Caulker could prove to be a solid option for the Ibrox outfit.
