When Steven Gerrard got the job at Ibrox he made the decision to send 22-year-old midfielder Greg Docherty out on-loan to Shrewsbury Town and so far the midfielder has been tearing it up for The Shrews. Last night in the EFL Trophy he bagged the third goal of his loan spell and the Gers are looking forward to his return at the end of the season.

Shrewsbury ran out comfortable winners over Tranmere in their EFL Trophy group game and Docherty will have been delighted to grab another goal in the fixture. The midfielder started the season on the bench for Rangers against FK Skupi and NK Osijek in the Bluenoses’ Europa League qualifying rounds, however, since his loan to the New Meadow he’s found his feet and started shining as he’s been getting first-team football.
Most Rangers fans have seen a spark in the midfielder and have tipped him to get a spot in the first-team at Ibrox upon his return. The classy midfielder has an eye for goal and his versatility makes him a useful addition to any squad. In his short time at Shrewsbury, he’s been deployed in central midfield, on the left and in a more attacking role in the space of just ten appearances for the League One outfit and he’ll be keen to continue adding goals for his temporary side and show Stevie G why he deserves to be a first-teamer upon his return.

The Gers are loving Docherty’s loan form and will be keen to see him continue to develop into a clinical goalscoring midfielder in his time south of the border.
