Rangers: Fans discuss referee appointment for the Old Firm - Rangers

Many Glasgow Rangers fans have been discussing an update about the upcoming Old Firm derby that recently emerged on social media.

The Gers face the Hoops in the Old Firm derby on the second of January and they currently find themselves at the top of the league, 16 points clear of Neil Lennon’s men.

Bobby Madden has now been chosen to be the referee for the Old Firm derby at Ibrox in January. Madden has officiated a total of seven Premiership games this season, having been involved in two Rangers games and one Celtic game. In the two Rangers matches that he has refereed in so far, the Gers have won both the ties (as per Transfermarkt).

Madden had sent off Andy Considine when the Gers took on Aberdeen earlier this year. In total though, Madden has refereed in as many as 40 Rangers ties and he has given nine straight red cards in these games, showing a second yellow on one occasion (as per Transfermarkt).

An update about this was relayed on Twitter by Superscoreboard recently. Many Rangers fans flocked to the news and gave some mixed opinions about Madden’s appointment.
