Rangers fans in the Transfer Tavern will be looking forward to the future under Steven Gerrard as he begins to embark on his journey with the club.
Having been named as the successor earlier in the month, the former Liverpool man does not take control in an official capacity until 1 June, however, he has already been hard at work to make a number of signings.
The locals will also be hoping he can get rid of a number of players from the wage bill that they deem to be deadweights, and they could be about to get their wish with one man in particular.
According to reports in A Bola, Portuguese outfit Vitoria Guimaraes have spoken to the Gers about the possibility of signing Bruno Alves. The media outlet believe the club has made “exploratory contacts” with the Ibrox side about the defender.
The locals in the Tavern will be looking for the club to do all they can to offload Alves, with a number of them far from impressed with what the Portugal international has brought to the team.
The defender is one of the club’s highest earners and Gerrard will be eager to offload him to free up transfer funds and boost the wage budget this summer.
