Rangers fans had some quality viewing last night as they were lucky enough to see Celtic bow out of the Champions League, losing 2-1 to AEK Athens in their Champions League 3rd round qualifier. This means that the Hoops will now be challenging for a place in the Europa League group stages, just like the Gers are.

Steven Gerrard looks to have turned Rangers into a different entity to what they were a few years back. The ex-Liverpool and England captain has done things in his playing career that only a few gifted players on the planet can do, and now he’s looking to mirror some of his achievements as a player in the dugout. Starting out at Ibrox is the perfect move for Stevie G and it looks like he’ll be trying to start by usurping Celtic as Scotland’s dominant club.
The first Old Firm of the season kicks off on the 2nd September and the supporters will be buzzing for the game at Parkhead. If Rangers can overcome Celtic it will be the first time that they’ve beaten The Bhoys since March 2012. That long-awaited victory will be so sweet for all of the Bluenoses. The majority of supporters, though, will just be enjoying Celtic’s loss last night and will be hoping they can make it to the Europa league to avoid giving the Hoops the same satisfaction.

The Rangers fans will savour this one for months, and it will only be topped by a win at Parkhead come early September.
