Rangers fans on Twitter have been getting pumped up for their upcoming game later today at home to Spartak Moscow in the Europa League group stages. One man who won’t be featuring is the on-loan Greg Docherty, although the fans will wish he was available given his form at the moment.

The midfielder obviously wasn’t in the plans of Steven Gerrard when the former England and Liverpool captain came to Ibrox. However, his form in League One with Shrewsbury has been absolutely phenomenal and he may well have just taken the choice away from Gerrard. The Gers could do with his goals from midfield and it would be no surprise to see him recalled in January with the way he’s been going.
The Shrewsbury man has added goals and creativity to the club’s midfield. On Tuesday evening The Shrews overcame Barnsley 3-1 at home and it was Docherty who got the ball rolling when he netted inside two minutes to give his side a lead that they never relinquished on the night. The Bluenoses will have been impressed by Docherty and will hope that their side can put in a similar performance to Shrewsbury’s tonight against Spartak.

You can’t keep him.

The Gers are loving Docherty’s form and will hope he can carry on replicating it when he returns to Ibrox.
