Punters in the Transfer Tavern have been reminiscing over the brilliance of ex-Rangers midfielder Brian Laudrup as the club tweeted him a happy 49th birthday. Rangers fans jumped at the chance to look back at the dynamic Dane, who scored 33 goals in 116 games for the Gers over a four-year spell between 1994-1998, winning three Scottish Championships.
Laudrup played out an impressive career in which he won almost every competition he graced, including the 1992 European Championships and 1995 Confederations cup with Denmark and the Champions League with AC Milan in 1993/94. However he’s most revered by those associated with Rangers who he played the most amount of games for of any of the clubs he represented.
The tricky midfielder’s career was cut short owing to injury, seeing him retire in 2000 aged only 31, but that didn’t stop him from dazzling Rangers fans during their dominance in the nineties as he helped the Glaswegian side to five trophies in his four years in Scotland.
The five-time Danish footballer of the year endeared himself to Rangers fans with incredible goals and mesmerising skills which leave little surprise as to why he was named 5th in the 1992 Ballon d’Or. He has since also been admitted to the Danish hall of fame and Scottish football hall of fame.
The one and only Brian Laudrup turns 49 today.

Remember at home against partick thistle he pulled the full backs pants down and then sent him for a hot dog before crossing the ball. The long range lob at pittodrie. Goal at parkhead in 1-0 game when brian oneill slipped and scottish cup final against hearts 5-1…ran the show

The day he signed. Everything after that was magic.
