Rangers fans on Twitter desperate to see Gerrard put his boots back on

Rangers face NK Osijek in the second leg of their Europa League second-round qualifier tonight and after a huge performance last week, Steven Gerrard’s side will be taking a 1-0 lead into their home leg at Ibrox tonight. Speaking ahead of the match, Gerrard claimed that the game is about the players, despite admitting he wishes he was playing in the fixture.

That last comment has excited plenty of Gers. The supporters would kill to see their legendary gaffer put his boots on one more time and pull on the famous blue shirt. It’s likely that Gerrard will still be able to boss the midfield in the Scottish Premier League and the early stages of the Europa League, despite the fact he’s now 38-years-old and well past his playing days.

The standard of Scottish football is often criticised and that’s led plenty of fans to call for their gaffer to play again. In his prime, Gerrard captained both Liverpool and England and was one of the best players in the world. If he’s half as good a manager as he was a player then the Ibrox faithful are in for a treat and so far he’s living up to his name of being a winner, as the Gers are yet to concede a goal under his management.

The fans are desperate to see Gerrard back in action at Ibrox and will be hoping that when he sees Ibrox rocking tonight he might be convinced.
