Earlier today, Rangers made the short trip to Kilmarnock in the round of sixteen of the Betfred Cup and they came away resounding 3-1 winners thanks to a hat-trick from young Alfredo Morelos. The 22-year-old’s treble is his first for the club and he’ll be hoping it’s not the last.

In all competitions last season Morelos netted himself 18 goals, this season he’s already a third of last season’s total and we’re not even out of August yet. Steven Gerrard will be backing his young Colombian frontman to aim for the 30-goal mark for the season and if he can keep netting at the pace he is then there’s no reason why he can’t achieve that unless of course, he suffers some sort of setback.
The treble from Morelos has put Rangers into the quarterfinals of the Scottish League Cup and if Gerrard can win the tournament then he’ll truly have won over all of the supporters if he hasn’t done that already. The current brand of football on show at Ibrox is tactically sound and well thought out and it’s down to Gerrard that he’s got the Gers creating Morelos all of his chances.
