The Rangers fans in the Transfer Tavern have been using one of their club’s tweets to make their opinions known on who they want as their next manager. A story in The Scottish Sun yesterday linked Steven Gerrard with the Rangers job in summer and now the fans want to see it. The club tweeted a gallery of pictures from the club’s training ahead of the Old Firm this weekend but were hit by a barricade of “announce Gerrard” tweets.

Rangers have been looking for a new manager since they sacked Portuguese gaffer, Pedro Caixinha back in October. The club appointed Graeme Murty as interim manager until the end of the season and despite a strong spell with the 42-year-old had the bookies slashing the odds on him to keep the job, there’s now no chance after his shocking management of the Scottish Cup semi-final loss to Celtic.
Instead, the Glasgow club has been looking elsewhere for their next boss. One name has caught the eye of the Gers propping our bar up though and that’s Steven Gerrard. The Liverpool legend retired from football in 2016 and took up a coaching role at Melwood, managing the club’s U18 side. Whilst a lack of experience may prove to be a stumbling block for the 37-year-old, he’s reportedly not fazed by the size of the task and could make Ibrox his first home as a first-team football manager.
