Rangers fans on Twitter in awe of new young midfielder

Steven Gerrard has brought a positive aura to Glasgow with the way he’s carried himself and this new-look Rangers team. The Gers are in the best position they’ve been in for a long time if they want to win the Scottish Premier League and the signing of Lassana Coulibaly is huge in achieving that. Gerrard knows that and he’s been talking about the 22-year-old on the Newcastle website.

The young Malian scored his first goal for Rangers on Thursday when Stevie G’s side beat Maribor 3-1 in their Europa League third-round qualifier 1st leg. There’s no doubting that Coulibaly isn’t in the squad to score goals but when they come along they are always welcome. This is the case with Thursday’s fixture. After bossing the midfield and impressing the fans, he popped up with The Gers third goal, really putting them in the driving seat.

The two-goal cushion will mean that their Slovakian opponents have a real job to do next Thursday. Not only do they have score twice against Steven Gerrard’s side, who are yet to concede more than one in a single game, but they’ve also got to stop the Bluenoses from bagging up the other end. You can guarantee that Coulibaly will be crucial to the second-leg and the season ahead and Gerrard can be pleased with his incredible coup.

The fans are loving the impact Coulibaly has had on the squad already and they’ll be keen to see him score a few more goals in front of the Ibrox faithful.
