Rangers fans on Twitter lauded Defoe after Motherwell win

There will be no prizes for guessing who will be making the headlines from Rangers trip to Motherwell yesterday. Scott Arfield’s magnificent hat-trick will be what the papers focus on, however, a lot of Gers have been lauding their January loan signing, Jermain Defoe, for the way he helped make his teammate’s treble happen.

Jermain Defoe is one whose game revolves around goals. The veteran striker grew up scoring goals and hasn’t stopped, even at the ripe old age of 36. However, yesterday, with the score at 2-0, when the Englishman got into the box and had a clear shot at goal, he opted to roll the ball for Arfield who bagged his 3rd of the game to seal the first hat-trick of his senior career.

The Bluenoses were as shocked as they were delighted to see Defoe passing up the shooting opportunity and allowing his teammate to grab a third, and they were all quick to appreciate his unselfishness just as much as they were Arfield himself. A number of fans would be more than happy leaving Defoe in for the rest of the season, even when Alfredo Morelos returns from suspension, and who can blame them, seeing as Morelos would never have past up the shooting chance.

You can read the Gers’ verdict on Defoe’s unselfishness here:

The Gers were absolutely ecstatic with Defoe yesterday and will hope for just more of the same from their hitman in the games to come.
