Rangers fans have got some cracking young players on their books to get excited about in the coming years. One of the biggest names coming through their academy at the moment is Glenn Middleton and after a few senior forays, he featured in the reserve league yesterday. The youngster shone in the game too, grabbing a brace in a 3-2 win over Hibs.

Rangers fans have been left both buzzing with the youngster’s display and wondering what he ever did to warrant his recent exclusion from Steven Gerrard’s senior side. The youngster is still just 19-years-old and has such a long way to go in his career, however, it seems strange that given his earlier inclusion in the first team that he’s now been dropped back down to playing reserve football.
For the first team, under Stevie G’s direct tutelage, the 19-year-old scored five goals and registered five assists in his 28 outings. It was always going to be hard for him to compete with the likes of Ryan Kent and Daniel Candeias, the two first-choice senior wingers, but he was doing a superb job of it until getting dropped, and now he’ll be desperate to carry on firing at age group level and for the reserves until he gets back into the first team again.
You can read the Gers’ thoughts on Middleton here:
Great result lads. Why oh why is Middleton not involved in the first team anymore? Had a very promising start to the season and now no sign of him at all???

The Bluenoses are desperate to see more of Middleton in the senior side and will just hope that Steven Gerrard gives him another go sooner or later.
