Steven Gerrard has put great faith in young Glenn Middleton this season. The young winger has had to wait for his chances but when he’s been given a starting role he has shone, and yesterday was no different. The 18-year-old setup Daniel Candeias for Rangers opener and was sublime throughout the 90, and the Gers took to Twitter to let him know it after the game.
Very good result today, big 3 points!Another assist as well pic.twitter.com/2GIE9C473W

The Bluenoses are expecting big things of Middleton in the future and they’ll be keen to see him to kick on and show the world just what he is capable of. At the age of just 18, it’s so important that Gerrard makes the right decision when it comes to the youngsters game time. If the ex-Liverpool man uses Middleton too much then the youngster could be at risk of burning out, however, if used right, he can be a serious talent.
Unfortunately for the Gers, Jamie Murphy would be the man who should be sharing the role on the left with Middleton but he faced the rest of the season on the sidelines after suffering ligament damage earlier in the campaign. That has left Gerrard putting a lot more faith into his young winger, and whilst it’s paying off for now, only time will tell if the added pressure will make or break the impressive youngster.
