Rangers fans on Twitter were jubilant as Katic returned

Yesterday was a brilliant day all round for the Ibrox faithful. The Gers ran out 3-0 winners at Fir Park against a sub-par Motherwell, and they had Scott Arfield to thank for his wonderfully taken hat-trick. However, he wasn’t the only star they lauded, as the Bluenoses loved seeing Nikola Katic back in action.

Katic has long been the forgotten man at Ibrox. Steven Gerrard has consistently left him our in favour of a defensive partnership of Joe Worrall and Connor Goldson, and the fans have long been calling for their Croatian stopper to be given a chance again. Yesterday saw him finally get that chance too and given the fact he helped his side to a clean sheet, it looks like he took that chance.

The Bluenoses will all hope that next season will see Katic and Goldson strike up a real partnership at the back when Joe Worrall is sent back to Nottingham Forest at the end of his loan spell, and in truth, most of them would like to see that pairing now anyway. At the start of the season, they were the pair that Stevie G relied upon, and the Rangers fans could never work out why Katic has been left out so much, although they’re hoping that will change now.

You can read the Gers’ reaction to Katic’s recall here:

The Gers will be desperate to see more of Katic between now and the end of the season and will hope that Gerrard is preparing them for next season when Katic and Goldson are the starting pair.
