Rangers fans on Twitter were jubilant with Gerrard’s Dundee lineup

We all know by now that the result at Dens Park wasn’t the one that the travelling Rangers fans wanted or expected, however, before the game the optimism was as high as anything. Stevie G made the strange call of fielding Ryan Kent in the #10 role for the trip, with Eros Grezda on the wing, and whilst it may not have been effective in the game, the fans were so excited after seeing it.

Going off of form and the way that his players have been playing over the last few games, all of Steven Gerrard’s picks for his side were justified and even the decision to give Ryan Kent a return to action was seen as the right call amongst the fans before the game, so it’s hard to see where it all went wrong during the 90 minutes for the Gers. However, it’s fair to say the fans would be a little bit more cautious of this lineup next time out.

The next game that Gerrard’s side faces will be against Rapid Wein on Thursday in the Europa league and nothing but a win will do it for them in their final group match as they chase a spot in the knockout stages of the competition. It will be a miracle if there aren’t changes for that clash, and the supporters will be desperate for their side to bounce back, although they’ll be a lot more careful about lauding the lineup before kick-off after yesterday’s clash.

The Gers were elated when they saw their lineup and will just hope that they can field teams like this in future matches with much better results.
