Rangers won their first ever competitive fixture under Steven Gerrard’s management yesterday, beating FK Shkupi 2-0 at Ibrox in their Europa League 1st round qualifier. During the game, Stevie G had a chance to show the 49,000 fans at Ibrox that he still has it, with a fancy touch on the sidelines impressing the fans.

Most Rangers fans came away from their fixture last night slightly disappointed. The Gers looked good and took a first-half lead through Josh Murphy but after looking sluggish on the ball and wasteful in front of goal, a late penalty from captain, James Tavernier dug the Bluenoses out of trouble and secured them a 2-0 aggregate lead going into next Tuesday’s second leg in Macedonia.
From the first 90 minutes, it looks like the Glaswegian’s will avoid the same embarrassment they suffered last year when they lost their Europa League 1st round qualifier to Progres Niederkorn. Despite this, Stevie G will need to improve his side for the start of the Scottish Premier League campaign and a lot of fans will be hoping that their gaffer might be convinced to put his boots back on and get back on the pitch. The fans all believe he’s more than capable of playing at this level still and would love to see him back on the pitch.

The fans would love to see Gerrard get some game time at Ibrox, although that looks very unlikely.
