Rangers: Fans reacted to Joe Dodoo playing for the Developmental side on Twitter

Rangers’ Development side were in action against Fleetwood Town on Tuesday afternoon and fans took to Twitter to discuss one individual’s inclusion in the side.

Graeme Murty’s squad had a number of fringe first-team players all involved, with the likes of Graham Dorrans, Eros Grezda and Jamie Murphy all playing from the start, however it was Joe Dodoo’s name that got a number of fans talking.

The forward has become a disregarded figure at Ibrox as he has had a couple of loan spells away from the club in recent seasons, although fans would be forgiven if they had forgotten he had played for their first-team as well.

The 24-year-old has made just 27 appearances for the Light Blues over the last three years, scoring five goals and providing a further three assists (Transfermarkt).

A recent report by Football Ghana revealed that Dodoo was likely to leave Rangers this summer, although that is not something that would have necessarily come as a surprise considering the additions Steven Gerrard has made to his squad.

With the likes of Jamie Murphy, Jordan Jones, Brandon Barker and Jake Hastie also available to play on the left, the 24-year-old’s place in the pecking order is likely to be rather low and it would be difficult to see him get an opportunity to play on a regular basis.

However, what appeared to catch a number of fans off guard was the fact that the attacker was still a Rangers player and was yet to be shifted on.

Here are just some of their reactions…
