Rangers: Fans were delighted with the performance of Borna Barisic - Rangers

Rangers fans were waxing lyrical over Borna Barisic on Twitter following his performance for the Bears against Feyenoord on Thursday night.

The Croatia international left-back was one of the four players to have come into the side following their victory over Livingston in the Scottish Premiership last weekend and it would seem he did not disappoint.

Steven Gerrard was full of praise for the defender in his press conference on Friday and revealed he felt he was outstanding and is highly respected by everyone at Ibrox (via Twitter).

Indeed, his match statistics would also appear to suggest the 26-year-old was influential on the pitch and played a big role in ensuring Rangers started their Europa League group stage in positive fashion.

According to WhoScored, Barisic managed to contribute with three key passes and one completed dribble, as he provided Sheyi Ojo with assist for the only goal of the game.

Defensively, the Croatian was sound as well, as he managed to win one aerial duel, make three tackles, complete three interceptions and two clearances as he achieved a match rating of 8.03.

Rangers News were full of praise for the left-back as well, as they handed him a seven and stated: “The Croatian international was back in the side and played a part in Ojo’s strike, winning a 50/50 which fell for the Liverpool loanee. Some of his deliveries were fantastic and if Rangers can get this sort of performance from Brisic most weeks then he has a good future at the club.”

It would appear fans were just as impressed with the defender’s contribution at Ibrox on Thursday as well, with many sharing their superlatives regarding his performance.

Here are just some of their reactions…
