Rangers fans were unhappy with one star despite thrilling Hamilton victory

Rangers supporters have been in fine voice in the Transfer Tavern in the last few hours after seeing their team complete a thrilling 5-3 victory at Hamilton on Sunday to move up to second in the Scottish Premiership table.

Graeme Murty’s men saw nearest challengers Aberdeen lose 2-0 at Hibernian on Saturday to give them an opportunity to move back into second place, and they duly took it after a remarkable game at New Douglas Park. A hat-trick from Josh Windass as well as strikes from Jamie Murphy and Alfredo Morelos secured a big win for the Scottish giants, with goals from Darren Lyon, David Templeton, and Dougie Imrie giving the Gers something to think about, only for Murty’s side to run out comfortable winners and at the same time reduce the gap on leaders Celtic to nine points.

Consequently, there have been several delighted Light Blues fans in the Tavern in recent times, many of whom are beginning to wonder whether their team can catch Brendan Rodgers’ Bhoys, who drew 0-0 at home to St Johnstone on Sunday to see their lead over the Gers cut to nine points.

Yet things weren’t all jubilant among our resident Rangers supporters on Sunday, with many deeply concerned by their team’s defensive capabilities against Martin Canning’s Hamilton, who bagged three times to leave the Gers with just eight clean sheets from their 27 league games thus far.

And one man in particular was slammed by several Rangers fans on Twitter, namely centre-back David Bates…
