Rangers may have signed ten players this summer, however it appears they could still add even more new faces to their squad ahead of the transfer deadline.
Gary McAllister has revealed the club could still continue to make movements in the market, should someone who can make a difference to the team become available.
Quoted by the Scottish Sun, he said: “If somebody becomes available who can come and make a difference here then yes, that’s still available to us.
“If you look at the squad, we have plenty of cover. Unless someone really jumps out at us, I think the manager is quite pleased with the way the squad is.
“But that doesn’t mean to say if someone becomes available, we are not interested. Management teams and managers are always looking to strengthen.
“When a board of directors ask you ‘what do you need?’, you always need. You always need better players.”
Steven Gerrard may have managed to improve his squad significantly in certain areas of the pitch, however there are still areas of the team that could benefit with the help of new additions.
The left-back position is one area of the field that could potentially do with looking at as it appears to be a rather weak link in the team.
Jon Flanagan has been used in that position recently as Borna Barisic appears to be out of favour at Ibrox and questions have since been made about what his future holds at the club.
The ex-Liverpool defender, who is naturally a right-footed right-back (Transfermarkt), made a mistake against FC Midtjylland in their Europa League victory on Thursday, which led to a number of fans questioning whether he was good enough to fill the role suitably enough.
As noted by Transfermarkt, Barisic is the only recognised left-back in the squad, so adding to that position would appear to be a must; as does the possibility for a new striker.
Although the Light Blues may have the likes of Alfredo Morelos, Jermain Defoe and Greg Stewart to choose from, the departure of Kyle Lafferty perhaps leaves a space to be filled whilst Rangers could benefit by having another option available to them as games will come thick and fast if they make it past Legia Warsaw in the next round of the Europa League.
Rangers may have significantly strengthened their squad in certain areas of the park, however it would not be a surprise to see more new faces arrive at Ibrox this summer.
As mentioned, there appear to be a couple of areas of the squad that could benefit from fresh faces and should someone become available between now and the beginning of September, it would not be a shock to see Gerrard and co make a move for them.
Rangers fans, where do you think the squad could still benefit from improvements? Let us know your thoughts by sharing them in the comments section below!
