Rangers fans in the Transfer Tavern have had to endure an incredible amount of mocking from rival Celtic supporters this season, and they’re keen to impressive summer business to shut them up.
The club’s return to the SPFL has seen them fall well short of competing for the title alongside Celtic, who reached the 100 point mark this weekend, and Rangers are also set to finish blow Aberdeen in the standings.
Following a campaign that’s set to go down as a transitional season, manager Pedro Caixinha is eyeing a wealth of improvements to his squad this summer but he’s been handed a major blow in his quest to sign Rashid Sumaila.
The Daily Record states the Portuguese boss is keen on bringing in the 24-year-old from Kuwait outfit Qadsia SC, after working with defender during his time on-loan with Qatari side Al-Gharafa, but Sumaila still has three-years remaining on his contract.
Previous indications suggested that Sumaila would be available on a free transfer this summer, as his deal had reportedly expired, and Rangers were confident of completing a deal after the player’s representatives side he’d be keen on working alongside Sumaila once again.
However, the Ghana international is actually secured to a deal until 2020 and the Kuwait side confirmed as much in a statement, which means a sizeable fee may have to be offered to lure the African ace to Scotland.
