Rangers handed timely boost ahead of Spartak Moscow visit

Rangers managed to record their first away win in the Scottish Premiership this season when they beat Hamilton Academical on Sunday.

Steven Gerrard’s side will now be looking to turn their attention to a match against Spartak Moscow in the Europa League.

The Light Blues will welcome the Russian outfit to Ibrox on Thursday night, however, they may have just been handed a timely boost ahead of their meeting.

According to a report by Sky Sports, Spartak have decided to sack their manager Massimo Carrera after a disappointing campaign.

Rangers currently sit top of their group and will have been confident of being able to get a result against the Russians before the latest developments.

The Gers drew to Villarreal in their opening group game before defeating Rapid Wien, in a game which they had to come back from behind.

The Verdict:

Although confidence is already high at Ibrox, the sacking of Carrera will have come as a boost to Rangers ahead of their game.

Spartak have not been enjoying their football this season and have struggled in every competition they are involved in so far.

The Scottish Premiership outfit are on a three-match unbeaten run at the moment and will look to take full advantage of the situation when they host the Russian giants on Thursday.
