Rangers will be desperate to work their way back into the Scottish Premiership title race, having struggled to ensure consistency in recent times.
The Bluenoses failed to make it into the knockout stages of the Europa League recently as they couldn’t quite find the answers away from home against Rapid Wien. Although, it looks as if the club are eyeing a possible addition, as according to The Mirror’s transfer news live blog (15/12/18, 13:08), Rangers have been scouting Fran Sol.
Interestingly, the 26-year-old has established himself as one of the most prolific forwards in Holland this season at current club Willem II, with 15 goals to his name in all competitions.
Sol is nominally out-of-contract at the end of the season, although there is a one-year option in favour of his club who are certain to activate it given his current form.
And, it’s thought that Rangers and bitter rivals Celtic have been scouting the attacker over the past couple of months, but the likes of Burnley, Cardiff, Huddersfield, Leeds, Derby and Swansea have also tracked his progress.
Fran Sol has certainly shown that he can find the back of the net on a regular basis in the current campaign, so Gerrard may finally be able to lighten the load on Alfredo Morelos’ shoulders.
Of course, with a number of Premier League clubs and Celtic also in the race for the attacker, it may be difficult for the Bluenoses to lure him to Ibrox.
