Planning for the summer might not necessarily be a bad idea for Steven Gerrard and Rangers now. The Light Blues only have pride and a second place finish to play for and with the way they are currently performing, they look a shoo-in to make that spot theirs.
And, it appears the club have been looking at their recruitment drive already, with one player thought to be closing in on a move to Ibrox in the upcoming transfer window.
What’s the News?
According to a report by Football Insider, Rangers are thought to be in pole position to sign Motherwell’s Jake Hastie.
It is claimed the 20-year-old is thought to have agreed to terms over a four-year contract and has indicated a willingness to sign for the Light Blues, despite having a number of others on the table to choose from.
Hastie could turn out to be an exceptional acquisition for Rangers this summer, should they be able to sign him on a free transfer this summer.
The 20-year-old has been impressive in the Scottish Premiership for Motherwell this season, having netted seven goals in his 13 appearances across all competitions so far.
With Ryan Kent’s future at the club in the air this summer as his loan spell comes to end, Hastie could be the perfect man to replace the Liverpool attacker if Gerrard is unable to keep him at Ibrox.
The Scotland Under-21 international has bundles of talent and potential to make a huge name for himself in the Scottish top-flight and could be an ideal solution.
However, if they were to bring him to the club, it could spell the end for the likes of Eros Grezda and Jamie Murphy as both would surely find it difficult to get into the first-team.
Rangers fans, what do you make of Hastie? Would you be happy to see him at Ibrox next season? Join in with the discussion below by sharing your thoughts with us.
