Interest is starting to mount in Rangers’ Eros Grezda this summer, according to a report by The Scottish Sun.
The media outlet claim Ligue 1 outfits Brest and Dijon are both interested in the Albania international and see the winger as a possible target to help improve their squads.
Grezda’s debut season at Ibrox hardly went the way he would have been hoping it would following his move from NK Osijek last summer (club’s official website).
The 24-year-old was hit by a number of injury problems throughout the campaign as he missed 20 games for the club whilst out on the sidelines, according to Transfermarkt. The Albanian would only go on to make 17 appearances across all competitions, chipping in with just two goals and one assist.
At the end of May, it was revealed Grezda and his agent would hold talks with Steven Gerrard about his future at the club after being frustrated with how things had gone on a personal level.
The Light Blues’ manager had made a remark about the 24-year-old back in January, stating that he needed to prove himself.
“Grezda has got it all to prove. He needs to push himself to prove to everyone he’s capable of being a Rangers player,” he told The Scottish Herald. “First and foremost he needs to win a shirt because at the moment the players who played against Celtic have got the shirts and rightly so.
“He has to show to us in the coming weeks that he wants to win a shirt back and when he gets his opportunity take it and find consistency.”
It would hardly be a surprise to see Rangers look to try and cut their losses on Grezda after just 12 months at Ibrox.
The 24-year-old could not stay fit and when given the opportunity, hardly made the impact that many would have expected him to do when they forked out £2million for him last summer.
The additions of Jake Hastie, Greg Stewart, Jordan Jones and Sheyi Ojo have also provided Gerrard with new options on the wing as well, which may only push the Albania international further down the pecking order.
