Rangers fans in the Transfer Tavern will be delighted with the work that Steven Gerrard has already managed to achieve at the Light Blues and will be hoping he can translate it to results on the field.
The Liverpool legend has been active in the transfer window this summer, making a number of signings and has taken the squad to Spain for pre-season training where one of the Gers has stated that the new manager is already getting the best out of everyone.
Jak Alnwick, who has seen his place fall further down the pecking order following the arrival of Allan McGregor, stated that all the goalkeepers are in friendly competition about the number one spot and has commented that Gerrard and his coaching team is helping everyone to raise their standards.
“The levels have really gone up; you look at the manager and his qualities and him as a player,” he told the club’s official website.
“We know we have to impress on that sort of level.
“He was world class level when he was a player and he is going to be looking at players for the qualities he had kind of had as a player.
“I think everyone knows that they have got to up their standards and we know that last season it was a disappointment on our level. We know to get something this season we need to up our standards.”
The Rangers fans in the Tavern will be delighted with the comments that Alnwick has made about what Gerrard is already bringing to the training ground and will be hoping the squad can make an immediate impact when they are back in competitive fixtures.
